Our approach

A fact-based Approach

Arpa Industriale’s primary focus is reducing its carbon footprint. The approach is straightforward: we measure our impact, select targets to reduce it and monitor and report on progress.
In order to manage we need to measure. And to measure our impact, we use the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology.
LCA is considered to be the most reliable and fact-based tool to evaluate the environmental burdens associated with the entire life cycle of a product, process, or activity. This is done through the identification and quantification of the energy, water and materials used and the waste and emissions released into the environment.

We measure. We act.
We monitor. We share.

Our fact-based approach consists of improving our processes by increasing efficiency and selecting less impactful raw materials. Investments are regularly put into action to minimise the environmental impact in all of the operations and products and, consequently, reduce our footprint.

Our approach

Emphasys

To continuously minimise our carbon footprint we work on projects that increase the efficiency of both production and materials and look for less impacting resources.

ToC
Title
What we measure
Body

We focus on three environmental indicators:
Carbon footprint: the greenhouse gas emissions associated with our activities.
Primary Energy Demand: the amount of energy that has been extracted from the natural environment for our activities.
Water Footprint: the impact of water used directly or indirectly for our activities.

Body

[emphasys 1]

Reducing our carbon footprint is our main focus.

We act by carrying out efficiency projects, like for instance the reduction of natural gas consumption or the minimisation of energy needs thanks to the FENIX state-of-the-art plant.
As far as materials are concerned, specific projects are in progress aiming at minimise waste and improve material efficiency, like for instance the improvement of resource-efficiency while keeping the same performance.

In parallel, we aim to substitute fossil-based raw materials and energy with renewable ones.

Bloom is an important milestone in our path towards the use renewable materials and we are continuously looking for options to further increase the bio-based share of our products and, at the same time, reduce their carbon footprint.

Moreover, 100% of electrical energy used by our headquarters and production site in Bra, Italy, come from renewable resources. Since 2020, Arpa has been using in the manufacturing process only clean electricity, either purchased from the grid with certified guarantee of origin, or self-generated thanks to the photovoltaic panels installed on the FENIX factory’s roof in 2019. The generated part covers the 25% of the total power in use.

How we share
Body

As we regularly monitor the progress on all projects, on a yearly basis, we publish a report highlighting goals, data and targets.
